The aim of this symposium is to enable participants to learn about the various spiritual / faith tourism / pilgrimage initiatives under way or being planned and to draw up an action plan for making more of the potential for spiritual tourism in Wales.
The day will combine micro-presentations, keynote presentations and round table and plenary discussions. Confirmed speakers include
- Canon Christopher Pullin, the Chancellor of Hereford Diocese on the St Thomas Cantilupe Way and the Virtuous Circles project
- Iain Tweedale, of Journeying (Christian walks and pilgrimages) on the Welsh Camino
- Guy Hayward of the British Pilgrimage Trust on the 2020: Year of Pilgrimage
- Caroline Welch on the National Churches Trust’s Explore Churches initiative
They also hope to have a speaker from Visit Wales to present the Faith Tourism Action Plan and Chapels Toolkit.
The Symposium will be held on 6 April 2020, at the University of South Wales Conference Centre, Llantwit Road, Treforest, Pontypridd CF37 1DL.
