Scotland’s Pilgrim Journeys bring together the travels of Scotland’s Celtic Saints and Medieval traditions of pilgrimage with modern faith journeys.
Originally six pilgrim journeys were developed, but a network of 14 trails was unveiled in April 2016 to coincide with the start of Holy Week, targeted at history, architectural and outdoor enthusiasts, as well as religious followers. Created by Scotland’s Churches Trust, supported by Scottish Enterprise, Historic Environment Scotland and the national tourism agency VisitScotland, you can follow these routes by road transport, by bicycle on recommended cycleways, and by walking where safe paths are available. Each Journey is divided into stages which can be explored, as your time and choice allow. Each stage has interpretative themes which can be explored in either direction.
